Diet and physical activity are essential

The first rule is about eating healthy and controlling your weight well. The Mediterranean diet helps a lot in this regard because it reduces the acidity of the urine and therefore decreases the workload for our kidneys. In addition, it provides few calories and many vitamins that are also antioxidants.

We recommend the consumption of legumes (such as chickpeas, beans, broad beans and lentils) and fish at least twice a week.

Otherwise, it is good to limit foods that contain too much protein, especially if they are of animal origin. These include cold cuts, cheeses, meats and dairy products. Moreover, it is always good to eliminate visible fat and use raw extra virgin olive oil when possible.

These include sex, climate, health conditions and exercise. To compensate, you can also think of eating foods containing a lot of water but also herbal teas and teas. The only condition is that the latter two are homemade and unsweetened.

Moving on to the fourth golden rule, it is important to reduce the salt and replace it with spices and flavorings. Then there is the fifth rule concerning absolutely no smoking.

The reason is that smoking increases blood pressure causing blood vessels to age and create circulation problems. Furthermore, since many substances contained in tobacco are eliminated in the urine, the risk of kidney cancer is very high.
