Local Athlete on Trial for Doping in Lodi
A thirty-year-old athlete from the Lodi area is currently on trial in Lodi for allegedly using and distributing anabolic steroids and hormones, commonly known as doping drugs, even in the context of competitive sports.
The athlete, who has not been named, received a package of growth hormone from China in 2017. The financial police intercepted the shipment and subsequently searched the athlete’s house. During the search, it was discovered that the athlete had been previously removed from a gym in Lodi with over 2 thousand members. The gym had reportedly received rumors that the athlete was offering training courses that involved the use of doping products.
Several gym members, including the suspect, were questioned, and some confirmed the suspicions. The athlete denied giving illicit products to others, admitting only to using them himself in the past.
The athlete’s trial is ongoing, with a verdict expected in May. For more information, the full article can be found in the Cittadino di Lodi on newsstands today, March 15th, and digitally.
