The prevention plan

Tanzania has never recorded a case of Ebola or Marburg. Despite neighboring countries such as the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda, they have had various confirmed episodes. None of the 13 Tanzanian patients from the southern Lindi region have tested positive for Ebola or Marburg to date. Covid tampons also tested negativeas reported by the country’s health ministry.

The head of the medical team that followed up the suspected cases, Aifello Sichalwen, said that, of the infected patients, excluding the three deaths, one had fully recovered while the others were still in quarantine. He added: «The government has formed a team of professionals who are currently investigating this unknown disease». Tanzania President Samia Suluhu Hassan said: “This “strange” disease may have been caused by the “growing interaction” between humans and wild animals, such as bats.».
