National Health Organizations Team Up to Combat Dengue in the Dominican Republic

In a united front against the spread of dengue in the Dominican Republic, the National Health Insurance (SeNaSa) and the Dr. Huberto Bogaert Diaz (IDCP) have announced a partnership with the Ministry of Public Health to actively participate in the National Day against Dengue.

This collaboration is focused on implementing preventive and educational strategies to safeguard the health of the population. Following a meeting with Health Minister Victor Atallah, SeNaSa Director Santiago Hazim and IDCP Director Victor Pou expressed their unwavering commitment to this important cause.

The Minister stressed the urgency of a coordinated response to combat this public health threat, emphasizing the significance of cooperation between the public and private sectors in effectively preventing and controlling dengue.

Key to the campaign is the message to “Eliminate, clean, and cover” to eradicate breeding sites and educate the community on prevention methods. Health Minister urged timely medical attention for anyone experiencing symptoms such as high fever, headache, and joint pain to minimize mortality.

SeNaSa’s executive director, Dr. Santiago Hazim, highlighted the organization’s dedication to the health and well-being of the Dominican population, offering resources to support the fight against dengue. He noted President Luis Abinader’s call for national unity in this effort.

The IDCP’s general director, Victor Pou, reiterated the institute’s commitment to combat dengue, offering expertise and resources for patient care. He encouraged those with suspicious skin lesions to seek medical attention promptly.

The collective efforts of these institutions, along with the Ministry of Public Health, aim to curb the spread of dengue and protect the health of the Dominican population.
