Nichelino Mental Health Center to Reopen After Protests
Following recent protests, the Nichelino mental health center will be reopening two days a week, albeit with some challenges. The center will have staff members gathered from various sources, including the possibility of using cooperatives and transferring staff from other healthcare facilities in the area.
A meeting took place today between the territorial CGIL, CISL, and UIL delegations and the director of the Health Authority, Angelo Pescarmona, at the ASL TO5 offices in Chieri. The ASL apologized for not addressing the problem earlier due to the lack of specialized staff and pledged to work with social partners to address any future issues in a timely manner.
Starting next week, the Nichelino clinic will reopen partially, two days a week, and then at full capacity, operating all week. Additionally, the Chieri facility, which was temporarily closed for structural reasons, will find a solution with the opening of a clinic at the Chieri hospital.
Territorial representatives from CGIL, CISL, and UIL expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the meeting, appreciating the ASL management’s commitment to address any future critical issues in a shared and preventive manner. They also stressed the importance of preserving the centrality of the national health system in serving citizens’ needs.
The reopening of the Nichelino mental health center and the commitments made by the ASL management signal positive progress in addressing the recent challenges, and offer hope for improved collaboration and support for mental health services in the future.
