“The risks faced by the elderly over eighty and people with pathologies, the effectiveness of vaccines in the preventing severe forms of infection and slowing down the campaign: in consideration of this, the Region has formally sent a reminder to the health authorities, health operators and general practitioners to relaunch the anti-Covid vaccination campaign for the fourth dose (second booster) to subjects over 80 and over 60 with fragility “.
This was stated by the deputy governor with responsibility for Health Riccardo Riccardi, adding that in Friuli Venezia Giulia, to date, they have been inoculated 14 thousand doses on an estimated audience of 105 thousand subjects to be vaccinated. “To this data must be added the scientific evidence on the increase in the effectiveness of the vaccine after a second booster against symptomatic forms, hospitalizations and severe forms of illness and in the prevention of death. Therefore, also considering the low rate of adverse events detected in field studies in this population group, the Administration recommends to all general practitioners, specialists and all healthcare professionals who have contact with patients over eighty or with frailty-immunocompromising factors to actively recommend the second booster of vaccination “.
In detail, it is reiterated that candidate patients are people who have undergone the first booster for at least 4 months (120 days) and have not contracted Covid after the administration of the first booster dose and, moreover, they must possess certain requisites: personal data (born in 1942 or earlier), residential (guests in facilities for the elderly) and frailty (born in 1962 or earlier with a pathology included in the list of the ministry).
Citizens falling within the categories and who do not reside in residential facilities for the elderly will be able to pdenote vaccination with the means activated for the campaign (call center, Cup, webapp, pharmacies). Citizens over 60 with frailty must fill in the form indicating the pathology they suffer from, available on all company sites in this link and take it with you to the vaccination center.
