The Italian Army and the Fausto Coppi on the road sports association, organizer of the La Fausto Coppi Officine Mattio granfondo, also renew their collaboration for 2021, which sees the 2nd Cuneo Alpine Regiment at the forefront both in operational support for the event and in activities promotion in piazza Galimberti.
Saturday afternoon, June 26, at the Granfondo Village in Piazza Galimberti, cyclists and enthusiasts will be able to learn about some of the activities of the Army. Particular emphasis will be given to Meteomont, the avalanche danger prevention and forecasting service. Expectedexhibition of specialist equipment and materials used by the Alpine teams that work for the detection of snow conditions and safety in the mountains. Also in Piazza Galimberti with the collaboration of the CAI of Bra, the 2nd Army Alpine Regiment will install a climbing gym, where, supported by two military mountaineering instructors, adults and children can try their hand at ropes, quickdraws and holds.
As part of the agreement between the Alpine Rescue and the Army Alpine Troops Command, the operators of the Military Alpine Rescue Team will collaborate with the Cnsas (National Alpine and Speleological Rescue Corps) to guarantee, in case of need, the timeliness of rescue in the Gesso valley while in the Arma valley in the Stura valley 17 Alpine troops will be engaged in the descent of Colle Fauniera with the task of reporting any critical issues to contribute to the safety of the route and intervene in case of need, while another 20 will take care of the control of the gates along the route.
