Menopause is not a “cure” disease. And medicalizing it, with hormone replacement therapy (Tos), may not be useful for some women. This is the thesis of an editorial just published on British Medical Journal and signed by Martha Hickey of the University of Melbourne, Australia, and some of her colleagues.
The gynecologist points out that the end of the menstrual cycle does not always coincide with annoying symptoms and that while some women find excellent benefits in hormonal therapies, others consider menopause a natural process and do not want to take drugs.
