The number of people stuck at home because they are positive in Italy is growing every day and getting closer to 1.3 million. To solve the problem of this army of infected people who cannot work and which leaves companies and public services unprotected, the Regions have prepared a document proposing to cut the duration of quarantene for the asymptomatic. The text drawn up by the technical coordination of the Health Commission of the conference of the Regions reads: “In the current context, the same rules for everyone are required to exit isolation (regardless of previous vaccination or infection) and easily understandable by the population general. Therefore, the need to update the duration of the isolation should be considered by providing a total time of 5 days, with the end of the same in the absence of symptoms for at least 2 days and without the need to carry out a test. Such strategies are already applied in several Western countries. In Spain and the United Kingdom isolation is no longer provided for positives. In the USA, Germany (with final self-test), Sweden, Austria, 5 days of isolation are foreseen ».

Furthermore, the document of the Regions asks to reduce the contact tracing of the asymptomatic, which takes away resources without giving effective aid. He asks for new rules on masks. It proposes: obligation of Ffp2 in health facilities for both workers and users; mandatory surgical mask on all means of transport and in indoor places open to the public.

The government, as confirmed by Minister Roberto Speranza, intends to speed up the fourth dose also for over 60s, after the opening of the EMA (European drug agency) the other day.
