The Speedtest ranking: Italy is still slow on the internet
Ookla is one of the most famous companies that nobody knows about. Anyone who has a phone or a computer will sooner or later use their product, Speedtest, which allows you to measure the speed of your internet connection. Ookla is headquartered in Seattle, like Amazon and Microsoft, but has deals with servers around the world. When you start the test, the device then connects with the nearest server, simulating the real user experience. Essentially three parameters are calculated: download speed, upload speed and latency. With this information, collected by millions of users around the world via app or website, Ookla draws up a monthly ranking of countries where internet connection is fastest. In the last one, presented at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Italy is not doing very well: in fiftieth place for connections on the cellular network, at number 66 for those on a fixed line. In the mobile ranking, Bulgaria in seventh place surprises, in the fixed one among the countries that are better than us are Portugal, Moldova, Paraguay.
