Slightly, but compared to Wednesday, the number of people admitted to the only Covid ward still active at Morelli di Sondalo, in its first pavilion, has risen.
We are at 12, compared to 10 a few days ago, all in non-serious conditions, so much so that for no one it was necessary to transfer to the ICU at the Sacco in Milan, but it must be said, all not vaccinated and belonging to different groups of age, ranging from 20 to 80 years.
The peculiarity is that some of them were hospitalized for Covid, while others were being treated for other diseases, but resulting positive they could not be assisted in other departments. Positivities acquired, therefore, those of the latter, who realize how much Covid continues to represent a pitfall, despite the health personnel being now fully vaccinated, and despite the use, however ordinary, of protective devices.
The aspect of vaccination remains crucial, even if not entirely decisive, because there may be cases of vaccinated people who have not produced the desired antibodies, or cases of people who, as vaccinated do not get sick, but become infected, without symptoms , becoming carriers of the virus without knowing it.
Illuminating, on the subject, the parameters published yesterday by the blog “Pills of optimism” by Paolo Spada, based on data processing by the Higher Institute of Health.
In the period 2 July-1 August we are told that, at a national level, the preponderance of positives in the unvaccinated is overwhelming, as we are at 66.9% of the total, with 60,267 positives out of the 90,020 registered in the period. 19.4% were vaccinated with one dose, 17,420 people, and 13.7% with two doses, 12,333.
Percentage that rises, in the unvaccinated, to 76.2 for hospitalization in non-intensive wards, and to 83.3% for hospitalization in intensive care units. In particular, in the period between 25 June and 25 July, in Italy, out of 2,930 hospitalized in acute Covid wards, 2,234 were not vaccinated, 292 vaccinated with one dose, and 404 with two doses. Equal to 169 out of 203, however, the unvaccinated ICU patients, 11 vaccinated with one dose and 23 with two, evidently, the latter, did not produce the antibody response.
Finally, with respect to deaths, in the period 11 June-11 July, the unvaccinated were 128 out of 180, the vaccinated with a dose 18 out of 180 and with two 34 out of 180.
Data that tells us how significant vaccination is, and, likewise, how important it is to continue to respect the rules and protect yourself.
