According to a reconstruction of the dynamics of the accident, a van violently hit another van traveling in front. Two people traveling in the vehicle that hit the rear died in the impact; the two injured, however, were probably traveling one in a van and one in the other.
The cause of the collision could have been a fall of sleep or a moment of distraction on the part of the driver of the rear-ending vehicle.
The helicopter specialized in night rescue also intervened on site. Together with the healthcare personnel, Sores Fvg also sent the traffic police and firefighters. Logistics and cleanup were handled by Autostrade Alto Adriatico staff who worked until 4am. There were no repercussions on traffic.
