Work Begins on Prato Boxing Gym with Sole Company Winning Tender

by admin

Work has officially started on the boxing gym in Prato, bringing excitement to the local boxing community. The project will involve the fire-fighting adaptation of the gym’s first floor, which will be exclusively dedicated to boxing.

Fi.R.Ma srl, a company based in Florence, has been awarded the contract for the construction works, with a total investment of 440 thousand euros. The project is being financed by Next Generation Eu funds. Interestingly, Fi.R.Ma was the sole participant in the tender process for this project. They even managed to present a reduction of 0.010%, equivalent to 289,714.98 euros, which helped them secure the contract.

The construction site is expected to commence at the end of the summer and be completed within the year. In addition to the boxing area on the first floor, fire adaptation works are also planned for the ground floor of the gym. This space will still be available for use by schools in the morning and by associations in the afternoon.

In addition to the boxing gym, there are also other ongoing construction projects in Prato. Mid-July will mark the start of work on the filtering system of the swimming pool located in via Marradi. During this period, the pool will be closed, and swimming courses and free swimming sessions will be relocated to the Mezzana swimming pool. Currently, Gescal and Mezzana are the only functioning indoor swimming pools in the area. The aim is to reopen the viale Galilei swimming pool in early September.

Meanwhile, the San Paolo swimming pool has already undergone significant renovation work. The pool was emptied and scaffolding has been put in place to address issues with ceiling infiltrations, which caused a portion of plasterboard to fall in June. The authorities plan to reopen the San Paolo swimming pool in September, although a specific date for the resumption of swimming activities has yet to be announced. As for the Iolo swimming pool, there is currently no forecast for its reopening.
