1.5 million euros in damage: accident involving heavy goods transport with agricultural machinery

According to initial investigations, a technical defect led to a serious traffic accident on the A4 motorway on Friday night. A 40-year-old Estonian was on his way to Görlitz at 11:20 p.m. with his heavy-duty transport, loaded with a 12-ton agricultural machine. At Salzenforst, shortly before the Bautzen-West exit, the semi-trailer’s steering apparently became independent, so that the tractor-trailer was pushed to the right of the road.

The crash barrier, roadway and sound barrier were damaged over a total length of 300 meters. A following Audi was also slightly affected by flying parts. Luckily there were no injuries.
