At the Valledupar High Complexity Clinic, a 4-year-old boy has undergone several surgeries after suffering third-degree burns on 60% of his body with hot water, in events that occurred in the municipality of Curumaní.

The minor was initially transferred by family members to the Cristian Moreno Pallares hospital in that town, but due to the complexity of the injuries he was referred to this capital.

The minor was admitted with blistering burns and due to the severity he is being treated by specialized personnel. “The hospital in Curumaní failed to inform the Police quadrant about the situation presented and also failed to activate the route with the Childhood and Adolescence official, who also states that he was not aware of this development. The minor’s mother also did not provide information on how the events happened,” the National Police indicated in the news report.

However, this medium was able to learn that the events were recorded in the morning hours in the yard of a neighbor of the child, where apparently he was playing very close to a pot with boiling water that would be used for the preparation of food, for a fast food stand that operates on site.

The child underwent a second surgical intervention, and before that they cleaned him to avoid infection in the wounds.

In this case, the Police Child and Adolescent Protection Group activated the care route to prevent the violation of the minor’s rights.
