Self-confidence is a basic spiritual phenomenon, mental state and spiritual type of people, and historical cognition is an important basis for historical self-confidence. The more comprehensive the understanding of the historical process, the more profound the grasp of historical laws, the richer the party’s historical wisdom, and the more active the grasp of the future. From December 27 to 28, 2021, General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out in his important speech at the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China Party History Learning and Education Special Democratic Life Conference, “On the new road to the exam, whether we can continue to hand in excellent answers? The key lies in whether there is a firm historical confidence. Over the past 100 years, our party has been committed to the happiness of the Chinese people, the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, the progress of mankind, the harmony of the world, the common good of the world, and the right path of the world. It is the greatest confidence of our party’s historical confidence, the historical confidence of our party to govern and rule in China for a long time, and the historical confidence of our party to unite and lead the people to move forward.” This has pointed out the direction and provided important guidelines for us to strengthen our historical confidence, strengthen our historical memory, anchor our historical orientation, create a better future, and realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Strengthening historical self-confidence means self-confidence in the party’s 100-year glorious history, showing confidence in the party’s achievements, experience, ability and strength, and full of confidence in the party’s ability to overcome any risks and challenges and create a new history. We should broaden our historical horizons, demonstrate our historical feelings, adhere to historical thinking, undertake historical missions, strengthen the Marxist ruling party’s high historical consciousness, and stand among the world‘s nations with a new attitude of greater self-confidence, self-reliance and self-improvement.
Establish a highly conscious historical awareness. “Don’t be afraid of floating clouds to cover your eyes, and you can still fly through the clouds with ease.” The glorious history is the greatest confidence and foundation of our party. Historical self-confidence stems from conscious historical awareness. Enhance the incentive effect of the original mission. The original intention is easy to obtain, but always difficult to keep. Seeking happiness for the Chinese people and rejuvenation for the Chinese nation is the original intention and mission of the Chinese Communists, and it is the fundamental driving force that inspires generations of Chinese Communists to go forward and fight bravely. Every member of the Communist Party of China must faithfully perform the duties and missions entrusted by the party and the people, and interpret the original intention of the Communist Party with practical actions.
