The ‘provocations’ risk fueling tensions in the Region
(ANSAmed) – TEL AVIV, MARCH 31 – Palestinian President Abu Mazen condemned the “dangerous escalation of Israel against our people and against our Holy Places”. The announcement, writes the Maan news agency, came after a morning of violence, in which at least three Palestinians were killed, and after a far-right Israeli deputy, Itamar Ben Gvir, went to the Temple Mount. of Jerusalem escorted by police officers.
Abu Mazen warned that these “provocations” could drag the region into an atmosphere of tension and escalation. He noted that they also risk undermining the efforts made at various levels to ensure calm during the upcoming Islamic Ramadan celebrations: a reference, apparently, to the meeting he had days ago in Ramallah with King Abdallah of Jordan, the which he later received the Israeli Head of State Isaac Herzog in Amman.
