Administrative, the numbers of the electoral appointment of 3-4 October

by admin

The lists of candidates who will compete in the administrative offices of 3 and 4 October for a seat on the councils of the over 1,300 municipalities involved were delivered on Saturday 4 September throughout Italy (17% of the total, for almost 12 million potential voters). In the main cities called to the polls – Rome, Milan, Naples, Turin and Bologna – civic competitors stand out, the well-known faces of sport and TV, but also some lists attributable to the no vax universe. For the role of mayor, 22 presented themselves in the capital and 13 in the Lombard capital, while for the regional elections in Calabria there are four eligible governors.

Pd and M5s united only in Naples and Bologna

Out of the 20 provincial capitals, eight have the outgoing center-right administration, seven of the center-left, three of the five stars and two come from civic experiences (including Naples, led by the former “orange” mayor Luigi de Magistris). But it is above all the great metropolises Rome, Milan, Naples, Turin and Bologna that are destined to have a national impact, also deciding the fate of party leaders. The center-right is always united. But between Lega, Fi and Fdi, no one has decided to expose themselves in the front line with their own representatives and it has been decided to focus only on civic candidates. The Giallorossi axis in the first round takes off only in Bologna and Naples (in the other realities it will eventually have to consolidate itself in the run-off phase). Pd and 5s run together in Calabria in support of Amalia Bruni who, however, is undermined by two other center-left candidates (Luigi de Magistris and former governor dem Mario Oliverio). The center-right, on the other hand, remains compact in support of Roberto Occhiuto.

Challenge to four in Rome

In Rome, there was nothing to do: the outgoing mayor Virginia Raggi (M5S) did not want to take a step back to allow M5S and Pd to converge on a single candidate. So the Democratic Party has focused on the former Minister of Economy of the Conte 2 government Roberto Gualtieri. In the capital the lists presented are a total of 39. The re-nominated auditor Virginia Raggi ranks six. At his side, the former Miss Italy Nadia Bengala and the former Minister of Transport Alessandro Bianchi. With Roberto Gualtieri (7 lists) there is Ubaldo Righetti, champion of Italy with Liedholm’s Roma in 1982/1983. The former footballer will find on the other side an old acquaintance of his: the historic Giallorossi midfielder Antonio Di Carlo, alongside Enrico Michetti (center-right). The ‘tribuno’ lawyer can also rely on the former Biancoceleste captain Angelo Gregucci and on the comedian Pippo Franco. As for Carlo Calenda, he focused on a single list headed by an entrepreneur.

M5s runs alone in Milan

Even in Milan, despite the attempts to make the M5S converge on the outgoing mayor Giuseppe Sala – supported by Pd, Iv and other lists, and recently passed to the European Greens – at the end the pentastellati presented their candidate: the manager Layla Pavone. Beppe Sala, who has eight lists at his side and the former cycling champion Gianni Bugno, will have to contend with Luca Bernardo for the center-right. The leaders of the League is the president of Federfarma Lombardia Annarosa Racca, that of FdI is the journalist Vittorio Feltri.

In Naples Bassolino unknown

What failed in Rome and Milan, instead happened in Naples: Gaetano Manfredi, former minister of the University in Conte 2, got the ok from Pd and M5S (as well as Iv). But here in the center-left the game becomes complicated with the descent into the field of the former center-left mayor Antonio Bassolino and Alessandra Clemente, supported by the outgoing mayor de Magistris. The center-right instead focused on the anticamorra prosecutor Catello Maresca (especially wanted by Salvini).
