A service was underway for the death of the mother of Zabihullah Mujahid, the main spokesperson for the Taliban, in the Kabul mosque when she was hit by an explosion. The bomb at the entrance to the sacred place caused several deaths. No one claimed responsibility for the attack but attacks by ISIS militiamen have increased in Afghanistan since the Taliban took power.
Interior Ministry spokesman Qari Sayeed Khosty confirmed that the attack took place “among a crowd of civilians near the entrance to the Eid Gah mosque”. Emergency, the Italian NGO that has a hospital in Kabul, ‘tweeted’ that it had received four injured people. In the meantime, the area has been cordoned off by the Taliban.
At the time of the attack, Zabihullah Mujahid was inside the temple. The Eid Gah Mosque, located in the heart of the Afghan capital, is located a few meters from the Afghan Presidential Palace and the Ministry of Defense.
