Material damage was left by the explosive attack at the Anti-Drug Investigation Headquarters of the Loja Subzone carried out on the night of Tuesday, July 11, 2023. During raids, 12 people were detained, three of them minors.

Case

The District General, Pablo Efraín Ramírez Erazo, National Director of Anti-Drug Investigation, pointed out that at 02:19 a.m. on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, there was an attack with an alleged explosive device at the entrance doors of the Anti-Drug Investigation Headquarters of shop.

After reviewing the videos from the surveillance cameras, it is observed that at 02:08 a.m. two women pass by, who wander suspiciously; at 2:12 a.m., a third male person joined; and, at 02:19 a.m., the device exploded. No damages were recorded to the police officers who were in the place, but there was material damage: destruction of part of the entrance door, windows and accessories of the institutional vehicles of the National Police.

“This fact is presumed to be a retaliation for two executed operations, the first called ‘Jupiter 11’, carried out on February 16, where they identified several people who carried out crimes such as hired assassins, extortion, illicit trafficking of controlled substances, vehicle theft and possession of weapons. Among the 29 people apprehended is Carmen CC, who, at the flagrante delicto hearing, was given precautionary orders. While, in the second, which occurred on July 6, during the ‘Sputnik’ operation, for organized crime, they arrested 12 people, including Carmen CC again, ”she said.

Apprehended and indications

Once they had all the elements of conviction, and after the investigations, the special units of the National Police carried out three raids at dawn on Wednesday, July 12, where they apprehended 12 people: 6 men, 3 women and 3 minors. They do not have a criminal record.

They confiscated 13 cell phones, 2 scales, 1 kilo 600 grams between marijuana and cocaine, 16 detonating capsules and blocks of dynamite, the same ones that after the analysis will identify whether or not they were used in the explosive attack.

“The National Police will not allow those acts of terror that cause panic among citizens. However, they call on the judicial authorities to carry out the corresponding actions and sanction the culprits,” he stated.

The governor of Loja, Eduardo Punín Burneo, indicated that the National Police has absolute support aligned with the strategies established to combat all criminal acts that are carried out in the province. In addition, that all the facts raised will not remain unpunished. (YO)
