An incredible and particular robbery in an area close to the center: 25 thousand euros were stolen from a security guard in front of a bank in via Silvio Baratta. A car with two security guards on board, before 2 pm yesterday, withdrew about 25 thousand euros from the ATM in the “Le Cotoniere” shopping center in Fratte. A routine operation, at least it seems from the first reports, which involves the transport to a nearby bank, with the money contained in a bag placed on the back seat of the service car. And, in fact, the two security guards, aboard a Fiat Punto of the Hermes security institute, had to arrive as far as the Bcc Campania Centro in via Silvio Baratta and here deliver the bag with the money inside.
Everything seemed to go smoothly. Few people at that time on the street in Salerno, also because it was starting to drizzle. The black point of the security guards stopped just before the branch of the bank in via Silvio Baratta. The car was stopped shortly after the intersection with via Luigi Guercio, when, suddenly, a motorcycle approached. It all happened in seconds. The passenger of the motorbike got out, broke the rear side window of the car, took possession of the bag, got back on the two-wheeled vehicle and with the accomplice driving they ran away, quickly losing their tracks. The two security guards immediately got out of the car and headed towards the robbers, chasing them but unable to reach them. Immediate alarm and the arrival of two police cars and one of the flying squad that triggered the investigations, also carrying out technical-scientific surveys. In addition, there are many video surveillance cameras in the area. Starting with those of the bank, there are many electronic eyes that may have caught the robbers at work. The police officers then also proceeded to listen to the two security guards and are acquiring the recordings of the video surveillance cameras that are present in the area and then examining them.
In addition to the money, in the stolen bag there was also a mobile phone that continued to ring even after the robbery. From the examination of the printouts and the paths it will be possible to establish the path taken by the robbers during the escape and thus have further elements for their identification. No such blows have ever occurred in the city. The car theft was typical of the ladies handbag on the driver’s seat. Same thing happened for the suitcases in the back seat put by the tourists. A robbery technique that had not been seen in Salerno for decades and that was not very widespread in the city, unlike other realities in Campania.
