Covid, hospitalizations in Piedmont increase. 80% are not vaccinated

Cases are on the rise and there is fear for the New Year holidays. Yesterday (Sunday 26) the Piedmont Region Crisis Unit communicated 1,523 new cases of people who tested positive for Covid-19 (of which 695 after antigen tests), equal to 11.9% of 12,822 swabs performed, of which 6,630 antigenic. Of the 1,523 new cases, 1,014 were asymptomatic (66.6%). On Saturday 25 December the new cases were 3,756 (equal to 6.2% of 60,530 swabs performed); Friday 24, 4,609 new cases (equal to 4.9% of 94,359 swabs performed). Infections are growing also in Canavese in the major centers: Chivasso passes from 252 to 284; Ivrea from 203 to 228; Volpiano from 107 to 125; Rivarolo from 76 to 98; Castellamonte from 51 to 57. There are two deaths of people who tested positive for Covid recorded yesterday (4 Saturday, 8 Friday) for a total of 11,997 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic. Non-intensive care patients are 995 (+62 between Saturday and Sunday). The hospitalized in intensive care are 86 (+6).

The hospitalized

In Piedmont almost 80% of patients hospitalized for Covid in intensive care are not vaccinated. In particular, of the 74 current hospitalizations, 56 concern unvaccinated patients (33 men and 23 women), while another 18 are vaccinated patients (15 men and 3 women), but with a serious clinical picture due to previous pathologies. There are 37,839 people in home isolation.

Vaccinations

21,603 people have received the Covid vaccine reported by the Crisis Unit of the Piedmont Region. 1,869 received the first dose, 1,760 the second, 17,974 the third. Since the beginning of the campaign, 7,777,624 doses have been inoculated, of which 3,088,772 as second and 1,254,507 as third, corresponding to 97.8% of 7,951,680 available so far. 29 new Covid-19 positive cases have been detected in the last 24 hours. The healings were instead seven. The current infected are 1,246, of which 31 are hospitalized at the Parini hospital (one in intensive care).
