A coach carrying students left the road and overturned in Germany on Sunday. The driver and 27 young people were injured, the police reported. Three girls and a boy suffered serious injuries, but no one is in life-threatening condition.
The accident happened around 6:30 am on the highway near Wenden in North Rhine-Westphalia. The driver was transporting 67 students and five teachers from a secondary school in the city of Marburg, located in the state of Hesse, to England. It is not yet clear how the accident could have happened. The police started an investigation.
The four seriously injured students were taken to hospital, as well as the 54-year-old driver who suffered minor injuries. The other injured received medical attention.
This is the third major bus accident in Germany in a short time. In March, a bus operated by carrier Flixbus crashed near Leipzig, killing four and injuring 35. A few days later, a bus carrying students veered off the road near Werl, east of Dortmund. 21 passengers were injured in that accident.
