[서울=뉴시스] Reporter Kim Jae-young = Following Japan’s Nikkei stock index breaking its 34-year high, European stock prices also broke their highest record in the morning session on the 22nd.
According to the Guardian and Bloomberg News, the Stoxx 600, Europe’s leading stock index, rose 0.9% from the previous day during the day to reach 495.77 points.
This surpasses the high of 495.46 recorded two years ago in January 2022.
Like the Japanese stock market, European stock prices are on a clear upward trend today due to the strong sales performance and even higher sales prospects of American chip manufacturer Nvidia and the optimistic outlook that the artificial intelligence (AI) boom will continue.
The outlook for global economic growth is also improving, and expectations are growing that the European Central Bank’s (ECB) monetary policy through policy interest rates will become more relaxed.
Europe’s STOXX 600 index has been showing stock market trends since 1998, encompassing the stock prices of 600 major large, medium, and small companies in 17 countries, including the UK, France, Switzerland, and Germany.
The stock prices of these 600 listed companies account for about 90% of the market capitalization of not only the Eurozone but also the entire European stock market.
Like the United States, the STOXX 600 index’s growth rate since this year is also showing a large concentration, with four companies accounting for 65%.
They include Dutch chip manufacturer ASML, Danish pharmaceutical company Nordisk, German software company SAP, and French luxury goods manufacturer LVMH, and their stock prices have already risen more than 10% this year.
