FMLN is going through its worst electoral stage

The FMLN went from being the leading political force in 2014 to a party in danger of extinction in the elections of February 4, in which it not only lost the presidential elections, but was also left without deputies in the following legislature.

Since 2018, the FMLN experienced a decline in its electoral career, when it obtained 21 deputies and 61 mayors; In 2019, its presidential candidate Hugo Martínez lost the presidential election with 389,289 votes.

In 2021, the opposition party only obtained 4 deputies and 30 municipalities, while this year, it did not obtain deputies and the former presidential candidate, Manuel “El Chino” Flores only obtained 204,167 votes.

Although the municipal elections and Parlacen are missing, the atmosphere for the FMLN is not encouraging at all, so it would not be a surprise if its candidates also lose them.
