“Let’s finally get married.” This is what Jacinda Ardern (43) said in January last year to her partner, 47-year-old TV presenter Clarke Gayford, when she suddenly resigned as Prime Minister of New Zealand after six years. Now the two have finally put their money where their mouth is.

Ardern and Gayford, a couple for ten years and engaged since 2019, tied the knot on Saturday in a Hawkes Bay vineyard under the watchful eyes of a small group of friends and family members. In total, there were reportedly between 50 and 75 guests.

The wedding was normally planned for early 2022, but Ardern’s busy schedule as Prime Minister and the corona pandemic threw a spanner in the works. Until now.
