Four hikers stranded in the mountains: rescued and recovered

UDINE. In Oseacco di Resia two men from 1981 and 1984 respectively from Pradamano and Cividale del Friuli, “crossed paths” – they got stuck without being able to go up or down – in a frozen channel after having made the wrong path. They were recovered from the fire brigade helicopter (pictures and map attached) with the winch.

The place where they were stuck would be difficult to walk to. The ground teams of the Alpine Rescue were available at the base camp to give any support.

In Lusevera, on the path that leads to Monte Maggiore from Passo Tanamea, two young women from 1989 and 1995, originally from Venice and Nuoro but domiciled in Trieste, got stuck in a slippery, icy and steep stretch along the way, after taking a detour – a place, by the way, where incidents have often occurred in the past.

One of the two had slipped for about ten meters, stopping the fall near a beech tree and from there she didn’t feel like moving anymore. Both wore “chains” at the foot, which were not sufficient to grip any stretches of snow mixed with ice.

They had a Labrador dog with them. The rescuers, three technicians from the Udine – Gemona station, reached them on foot, secured them with the rope and accompanied them to the valley unharmed.
