Meteorological Leaders in Guangxi Set Goals for High-Quality Development in 2024
At the 2024 National Meteorological Work Conference in Guangxi, leaders gathered to discuss the future of meteorology in the region. The conference aimed to integrate the past and present, set goals for the future, and establish a clear direction for the modernization of meteorology in Guangxi.
The conference emphasized the importance of implementing the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions on meteorological work and major strategic requirements for Guangxi. Leaders urged for the promotion of high-quality meteorological development in all areas and its integration into the overall development of Guangxi in the new era.
Facing new situations, opportunities, and challenges, leaders in Guangxi pledged to uphold the party’s overall leadership and continuously improve political abilities, strategic vision, and professional levels. They emphasized the importance of implementing new development concepts and building a new development pattern in line with General Secretary Xi Jinping’s vision for the region.
To achieve these goals, leaders highlighted the need for innovation, change, and enhanced core capabilities in meteorological science and technology. They focused on accelerating the modernization of meteorological capabilities, strengthening research and development, and promoting the application of artificial intelligence and big data in meteorology.
Furthermore, leaders emphasized the importance of strengthening the sea and building a characteristic system in Guangxi. With a unique geographical advantage along the coast and river, Guangxi aims to promote meteorological services for coastal industries, ports, and logistics. They also plan to build a new business format for marine meteorological services and focus on the construction of a meteorological big data application and service center for ASEAN.
In addition, leaders stressed the importance of open development and improving service quality and efficiency in meteorology. They highlighted the need for the modernization of meteorological social services, disaster prevention, and reduction efforts, as well as active integration into the meteorological development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
