Gender equality, the turning point in language: the new Treccani vocabulary records the feminine of nouns and adjectives before the masculine

For the first time in the history of Italian vocabularies, the masculine gender is not privileged, but the feminine of nouns and adjectives is also recorded. What’s more: the established order is alphabetical, so looking for – for example – the word “beautiful”, you will find first the feminine form “beautiful” and then the masculine.
