During a routine group meeting of the Guangdong People’s Congress delegation, Secretary Huang Kunming broke tradition by inviting Chinese and foreign reporters to enter the National People’s Congress delegation area to take close-up shots. The usually serious and solemn atmosphere of the meeting quickly turned lively as reporters and photographers flooded into the representative area.

The meeting, held at the delegation’s residence on Thursday, was open to interviews with the media, in a departure from the usual protocol where reporters and representatives are kept separate. After the third representative finished speaking, Huang Kunming surprised everyone by allowing the media to enter the representative area and film the speeches up close.

The impromptu move led to a flurry of activity as cameras clicked and reporters broadcasted live from the National People’s Congress representative area. One seasoned reporter even mentioned that in his over ten years of covering China’s Two Sessions, this was the first time he had been allowed access to shoot inside the delegation area.

The unprecedented moment brought a sense of excitement to the meeting as the media captured the speeches and interactions up close. Huang Kunming’s invitation provided a unique perspective for both the reporters and the public, giving them a glimpse into the inner workings of the Guangdong People’s Congress delegation.
