Guangxi’s Consumer Market Booms Four Days Before Spring Festival Holiday
As the Spring Festival holiday approaches, the consumer market in Guangxi, China continues to sizzle, surpassing the levels seen in 2019. According to the Department of Commerce of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the region’s consumer market has maintained a hot streak, with big data from the Cloud QuickPass platform showing a 9.0% year-on-year increase in the cumulative number of transactions by 1.67 million merchants, and a 13.3% year-on-year increase in total sales.
During the Spring Festival of 2024, Guangxi’s entire district’s business system implemented the deployment requirements of the Ministry of Commerce’s “Consumption Promotion Year”, launching various forms of consumption promotion activities to create a festive atmosphere of joy, peace, reunion, and celebration.
To continue stimulating the Spring Festival consumer market, Guangxi has issued more than one million consumer coupons through the “Auspicious Dragons Presenting Auspiciousness and Enjoying Happiness” – the 2024 Guangxi Happy New Year Carnival. Additionally, automobile consumption carnivals and home appliance and refined oil product promotions have triggered a boom in purchases, with sales for monitored car sales companies increasing by 16.8% year-on-year, and home appliance retail giants investing millions in profit-sharing activities.
In conjunction with Spring Festival consumption, major catering companies across the region have launched various types of New Year’s Eve dinners and family banquets. Additionally, scenic spot activities have attracted residents to travel with their families, with tourism orders on the rise.
Online consumption continues to surge, with local specialty products being sold across the country through e-commerce. Monitoring data shows that from February 9 to February 12, online retail sales in Guangxi increased by 42.8% year-on-year, while live broadcast sales increased by 23.77% year-on-year.
During the Spring Festival, the commerce authorities in various places in Guangxi have actively implemented measures to ensure market supply and stable wholesale prices for daily necessities such as meat, poultry, rice, eggs, oil, fruits, and vegetables.
