The man stopped on a rock jump on Col Nudo. Rescuers found him lying on the snowy slope

ALPAGO. It glides over the snow and stops above a rock jump. The hiker rescued yesterday on Col Nudo (Alpago) risked making a flight of about sixty meters. The alarm went off at 12.20: the man was with his companion AZ, 35 years old from San Donà di Piave (Venice) on the crest of the mountain when he slipped, managing to stop on a steep stretch.

When the helicopter arrived on the spot following the coordinates received, it identified FF, 34 years old from Concordia Sagittaria (Venice), just below the ridge, lying on the snow.

Lowered with a winch of about thirty meters, the helicopter rescue technician recovered the hiker, who had not reported any consequences, and then in the same way also the woman who had remained above. Both were transported to the locality of San Martino, where an Alpago Alpine Rescue team was waiting to take them back to the car.

In this period, both snow and ice can be found in the mountains. The Alpine Rescue reminds you to equip yourself with the appropriate footwear and equipment, as well as clothing. In the presence of hard snow and ice, he strongly encourages you to wear chains / crampons and similar devices, adaptable to all footwear, only on flat roads or with a slight slope.

In all other types of terrain, Cnsas recommends only crampons, combined with the appropriate boots, also checking that the devices are well fixed and locked. It is essential to deepen the characteristics of the equipment purchased and the correct positioning. Finally, at high altitudes, on more challenging routes, it is a must to know mountaineering techniques and handling in a winter and icy environment, with the combined use of an ice ax and crampons.
