The lawyers of the relatives of Giulia Tramontano, the 29-year-old seven months pregnant killed with 37 stab wounds by her boyfriend Alessandro Impagnatiello on May 27th in Senago, in the Milan area. The trial for the accused will open tomorrow at the Court of Assizes in Milan.
From what has been known, in fact, the lawyer Giovanni Cacciapuoti, who represents his father Franco, his mother Loredana, his brother Mario and his sister Chiara (they will be present in the courtroom tomorrow), has already appointed two psychiatrists, Salvatore De Feo and Diana Galletta, who will be able to carry out their work as consultants in the event that the Court, at the request of the defence, orders a psychiatric assessment during the trial to ascertain a possible mental defect.
Incapacity of understanding and will, total or partial, which, if recognized, could avoid a life sentence for the 30-year-old, former barman of a luxury hotel, accused of voluntary homicide aggravated by premeditation (he also allegedly made his girlfriend ingest rat poison for months), cruelty, frivolous motives and a cohabitation relationship. He is also accused, following the investigation by the Carabinieri of the Investigative Unit, coordinated by the deputy Letizia Mannella and the prosecutor Alessia Menegazzo, for non-consensual termination of pregnancy and for concealing the body.
The lawyers Giulia Geradini and Samanta Barbaglia, who assist Impagnatiello, presented a list of witnesses with only two names, that of the psychiatrist Raniero Rossetti – who among other things dealt with the case of Omar Confalonieri, the former real estate agent convicted of having drugged and raped some women – and the psychologist Silvana Branciforti. Choice, the defensive one, which preludes a request to the judges for a psychiatric assessment.
