Hangzhou Net – On July 11, the party group of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People’s Congress convened a meeting to discuss the implementation of the “Eight-Eight Strategy”. The meeting aimed to convey and study the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 15th Provincial Party Committee and deploy strategies to ensure the efficient performance of the National People’s Congress. Chen Jinbiao, secretary of the party group and deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People’s Congress, presided over the meeting.

The Third Plenary Session of the 15th Provincial Party Committee emphasized the need to implement the “Eight-Eight Strategy” in line with the instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping. This strategy aims to promote common prosperity and Chinese-style modernization, showcasing the superiority of the socialist system with Chinese characteristics. The Standing Committee of the Provincial People’s Congress and its organs were urged to actively learn and implement the strategy and contribute to the development of Zhejiang.

During the meeting, it was emphasized that the Standing Committee and its agencies should lead by example and fulfill the duties of the National People’s Congress diligently. The goal is to contribute to the realization of common prosperity and Chinese-style modernization in the province. It was further stressed that political firmness is essential and the study and implementation of the “Eight-Eight Strategy” should be integrated with Xi Jinping’s new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Extensive research on its origin, reasoning, and history is required to yield influential theoretical results.

Furthermore, the Standing Committee and its agencies were called upon to promote good laws and governance by effectively fulfilling their duties. This entails addressing the urgent needs of the “two first” rule of law, advancing the construction of a modernized provincial legal system, and strengthening the connection between the supervision of the people’s congress and other forms of supervision. Additionally, there is a need to encourage the transformation and application of supervision results and facilitate scientific, democratic, and legalized major decision-making.

The meeting also highlighted the importance of practicing people’s democracy with transparency and accountability. Improving the capacity building of deputies, standardizing and enhancing the “dual contact” mechanism, and promoting the active participation of deputies in the work of the people’s congresses are essential for the concrete and realistic implementation of the people being the masters of the country. Additionally, efforts should be made to enhance the ability to perform duties led by party building. This requires adhering to the general requirements of party building in the new era, correcting the “four styles,” and establishing a new work style. Moreover, mechanisms for learning, practice, research, and innovation should be improved to enhance the ability of people’s congress cadres to perform their duties effectively.

The party group of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People’s Congress aims to promote the “Eight-Eight Strategy” and deepen the implementation of its principles. By adhering to this strategy, the Provincial People’s Congress hopes to contribute to the overall development and prosperity of Zhejiang.
