The week that concludes leaves a resounding result in the fight against drug trafficking in the department of Huila, with the discovery and seizure of more than 3 tons of marijuana in different strategic points in the region.
The success of this operation is attributed to the coordinated work between the National Quadrant Community Surveillance Model and the Transit and Transportation Section, supported by the different specialties of the police service, such as Intelligence and Criminal Investigation.
In Thessaly, an ingenious method of concealment was discovered: more than a ton of Compacted marijuana was inside cement tubes, skillfully camouflaged for transport into the interior of the country. This shipment was intercepted by uniformed traffic officers, who thwarted its final destination.

In a parallel operation in Gigante, on Route 45, another 850 kilograms of marijuana were found hidden in a cove inside an unoccupied truck.. A similar modus operandi was used in Iquira, where another 640 kilograms of this drug were discovered.
Finally, on the road that connects Huila with Tolima, the traffic and transportation units managed to intercept a private service car in which 500 kilograms of marijuana. The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled towards a wooded area, but the drugs were seized.
Colonel William Javier Lara Avendaño, commander of the Huila Police, highlighted the importance of the joint work and dedication of the police men and women who patrol the department’s roads, which allowed this important blow to drug trafficking.
