The top management of Invitalia changes. On the proposal of the Minister of Economic Development and in agreement with the Minister of Economy, who controls 100%, at the expiry of the current top management, Rocco Sabelli and Bernardo Mattarella were respectively appointed president and CEO of the public company.
Thus ends the long era of Domenico Arcuri, who was appointed CEO in 2007 by the Prodi II government and led the public company in a period in which a total of nine governments followed. From March 2020 to March 2021 Arcuri added the post of extraordinary commissioner for the coordination of the containment measures of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The return of Mattarella
For Mattarella, nephew of the President of the Republic, it is instead a return to Invitalia after five years as CEO of Mediocredito centrale, which is part of the Invitalia group.
From 2007 to 2017 Mattarella was first chief financial officer of Invitalia, then he headed the Incentives and Innovation business unit. During his experience in Mcc, he led the entire process of strengthening the SME Guarantee Fund, also in light of the derogations on state aid linked to anti-crisis measures.
Rocco Sabelli, who takes over the role of president from Andrea Viero, after a long experience in Telecom Italia, was among other things the CEO of Piaggio, Alitalia and more recently, in 2019, of the public company Sport e Salute spa from which he joined is discharged.
