Ivrea, street art becomes a map: six stops for an alternative trip

The map makes the positive experience of the Architecture Festival accessible to tourists. There are contextual references and images that help to understand the works

IVREA. A tourist map on the places of street art in Ivrea born with the Architecture Festival. At number 64 the tribute to Milton Glaser made by Galliano Gallo and Andrea Motto Rosso, that I love Ivrea who wants to pay homage to Glaser, one of the greatest graphic designers of the contemporary age, famous for having created the iconic logo I love New York who for Olivetti created a series of posters for the Valentine typewriter designed by Ettore Sottsass in which he interprets the masterpieces of Italian art. In via Jervis, but at 5, here is the mural by Ermenegildo Nilson and Rombo to reinterpret the Olivetti Divisumma 24 told in the announcement for the press by Giovanni Pintori, the Italian painter and designer Pintori, art director at Olivetti since 1950.

The same situation in via Gramsci 1, where the advertisement for Letter 22 by Pintori (1950) stands out in the graphic rendering created by Nilscon and Rombo seventy years later. The same artistic combination for the reworking of the advertising of Olivetti Divisumma 24 Tetractys (Pintori, 1959) which instead meets at 9 in via Gramsci, still on a residential building of those times located in the Unesco Buffer zone (the one more decentralized than the via Jervis). Finally, the stairway in Piazza I Maggio is all about the reworking of the advertising with which Giovanni Pintori presented the Olivetti Elettrosumma 22 to the world in 1956: a play of striking colors that Galliano Gallo and Andrea Motto Ros, in the days already passed in the history of the Architecture Festival held in Ivrea in September 2020. Then the project of thehe street art became a substantial part of the program’s initiatives, it was carried out by the councilor for urban planning Michele Cafarelli based on an idea by Alessandro Chiarotto, software developer of Ivrea.
