Premier Li Qiang Engages with Overseas Buyers at 135th China Import and Export Fair
On April 17, 2024, Premier Li Qiang of China held a discussion with representatives of overseas buyers participating in the 135th China Import and Export Fair in Guangzhou. The meeting saw the presence of leaders from prominent overseas companies such as Intelligent IKEA, Wal-Mart, Koper, Lulu International, Meirzhen, Alzum, Nitori, Auchan, Shengpai, Kesko, and Changyou.
During the discussion, representatives of overseas buyers shared their experiences of strengthening cooperation with China through the Canton Fair, highlighting its role in promoting trade and friendly relations between China and other countries worldwide. The participants expressed confidence in China’s economic development prospects and pledged to utilize the Canton Fair as a platform to expand their operations in China and contribute to promoting free trade and maintaining the stability of the global supply chain. Suggestions were also put forth on developing circular and green economies, optimizing the business environment in China, and enhancing personnel exchanges between China and foreign nations.
Premier Li Qiang commended the participants for their active engagement in the Canton Fair and their contributions to economic and trade cooperation with China. He emphasized the significance of the Canton Fair in connecting overseas companies with China and fostering mutual benefits through collaboration. Li Qiang reaffirmed China’s commitment to expanding high-level opening up to the world, promoting trade liberalization, and facilitating investment to support global trade and economic stability.
Furthermore, Li Qiang acknowledged the positive role played by overseas companies in promoting economic cooperation between China and the world, and encouraged them to continue exploring the Chinese market, expand their business operations, and capitalize on China’s vast market demand and growth opportunities. He reiterated China’s commitment to integrating international economic and trade rules, enhancing market access, and providing support and protection for foreign-invested enterprises and intellectual property rights.
The symposium was also attended by Wu Zhenglong, underscoring the government’s commitment to facilitating international business exchanges and foreign investment in China.
