Luxottica accelerates, ready to hire 200-250 people in its factories

by admin

Over 100 will go to the Agordo plant alone. Difficult to find figures that use automated devices

AGORDO. Luxottica is booming, so much so that it is preparing to hire 200-250 workers from all its Italian factories, even if over 100 will go to Agordo and many others also to Sedico where the acetate frames are produced that are doing very well lately.

Indeed, the recruitment activity started at a rapid pace a few weeks ago. And from what is known for the eyewear giant, finding certain professionals, able to operate some automated equipment that is now part of the sector’s production plant, is not so simple.

Indeed, Luxottica is focusing heavily on digital development and production automation. What was once considered an exclusively manual activity, is no longer so: producing eyewear involves more and more automated tools that require men and women to specialize in their management.

And perhaps the offer of these figures, in the Belluno area, is not so wide compared to the needs of those who, like Luxottica, are advancing in the world of innovation.

The market

The market is doing very well on the eyewear front: Luxottica was among the first companies to intercept this recovery that started a few months ago. And the effects were seen immediately: a 30% increase in production volumes also thanks to the restart of the United States economy, and a surge in online sales. And on the e-commerce front, Leonardo Del Vecchio’s plans include the construction, which has already begun, of a new hub in Sedico precisely to respond to the changing needs of customers. And to accelerate this change, the Covid-19 pandemic has contributed not a little, closing everyone at home, has increasingly imposed this new method of purchase. All of this made new hires possible. Assumptions that are fixed-term: we are talking about 3-6 months.

The arrival of new staff will also help the employees who for several weeks have been doing extraordinary incentives and flexibility to respond to the huge increase in production. So much so that the patron saint of Agordo, which is celebrated on June 28, this year foresees a production stop and not even the usual “bridge” that the other years was foreseen: the demand for eyewear is strong and you can’t miss a beat , just now that the wheel has started spinning again.

There are those who enter and those who leave

In the meantime, the campaign of voluntary incentives for staff leaving in 24 months continues. This is an agreement that was signed nationally by trade unions and Luxottica in October 2020 and which is slowly coming to an end. For those who come out, the eyewear giant provides an average incentive of 28-29 thousand euros gross.

The signed lenses

But in the meantime, work is also being done on the so-called “personalized eyewear”. In fact, if for several years glasses have been produced that bear the name of the owner or his initials on the right temple, for some months they have been producing lenses with their owner’s signature. An innovation that responds to Cavalier Del Vecchio’s need to integrate frames with lenses. The engraving of the signature on sun or prescription lenses is already enjoying great success.
