Messina, clandestine horse races along viale Giostra: three reported

by admin

Messina – In the course of targeted services aimed at combating horse racing on viale Giostra, along which clandestine races are organized, the Carabinieri of the Messina Radiomobile Nucleus have deferred three Messina citizens in a state of freedom. These are the 58-year-old RS, already known to the police, the 28-year-old IG and the 29-year-old DFG all held responsible – in various capacities – for the crimes of roadblocking, animal abuse and clandestine street sports competitions.

In particular, last night, around 4, two patrols of the Nucleo Radiomobile were traveling along Viale Giostra, to position themselves in a suitable place to set up a checkpoint on the two directions of travel of the aforementioned road artery. At the height of the Mandalari health facility, they surprised two gigs intent on competing clandestinely in the opposite lane, supported by a dozen mopeds, intent on following the race, arranged in such a way as to be able to block road traffic in order to facilitate the progress of illicit competition. The presence on the avenue of the traffic divider hindered the immediate intervention of the military, making it possible for mopeds to disappear into the neighboring streets from the sight of the Carabinieri. The soldiers of the Arma have reversed the march reaching and blocking the two buggies with their drivers then identified in the 28 IG and in the 29 year old DFG The two young people were deferred, in a state of freedom, as they were held responsible for the road blocking offenses, mistreatment of animals and clandestine street sports competitions.

In addition, the Carabinieri have deepened the assessment with the help of the Veterinary Service of the ASP of Messina, to trace the ownership of the horses by ascertaining that one belongs to the same driver, the 29-year-old DFG while the other, conducted by the 28-year-old IG, was found owned by the 58-year-old RS in turn deferred, in a state of freedom, for participation in the same crimes. The animals and the buggies were subjected to seizure and entrusted, in judicial custody, to the same owners.

Finally, against the two coachmen, the Carabinieri have raised administrative violations of the Highway Code for having carried out road competitions at a speed not commensurate with the environmental conditions, with the use of buggies without adequate visual lighting braking devices and of license plates, for a total amount of 2,000 euros.
