A year ago a university professor of Afghan origin who arrived irregularly in Italy from the port of Ancona, in an attempt to reach relatives and colleagues in Northern Europe, fell and was crushed by the wheels of a heavy vehicle under which he was hiding. The local police of Ancona have put in place all possible channels and means to give a name, a history, and a dignity to the victim of a tragic fate and to his family who no longer had news of him.

And thanks to a patient and complex search, the local Police Command, with the support of the councilor, has reconstructed the human and professional history of the victim and was able to warn the relatives of the man residing in Afghanistan of the incident.

For this delicate matter and the related investigation, the Municipality of Ancona and the Local Police have been awarded the “Urban Security Award 2021 edition”. The commendation was delivered in Parma during the Anci assembly, to the Commander of the Local Police Liliana Rovaldi and to the councilor for security Stefano Foresi.
