This was confirmed by the Croatian Prime Minister, Andrej Plenković, specifying that investigations are underway to ascertain all the circumstances of the accident. There are no injuries
ZAGREB. A large flying object crashed in Zagreb, shortly after 11pm on Thursday 10 March, causing a strong explosion and creating a crater of about three meters, causing damage to some cars parked in the
nearby, but without causing any injuries.
The object hit the ground in the western part of the city, in the Jarun district, near the student dormitory of Stjepan Radić. During the morning, numerous hypotheses about the type of aircraft followed, before confirmation came from the Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković himself: it is a military drone that arrived from the war zone in Ukraine. Plenkovic specified that investigations are underway to ascertain all the circumstances of the accident.
The aircraft entered Croatian airspace from Hungary, flying in an east-west direction, at an altitude of about 1,300 meters and a speed of 700km / h. First he would have flown over Romania. Before crashing, the aircraft remained in Croatian airspace for about seven minutes, while it probably flew over Hungary for about forty minutes.
According to the first reconstructions on the spot, it should be a reconnaissance drone of the type Tu-141 of Soviet production, but used by the Ukrainian army. A model that boasts a range of about 1,000 kilometers and that, yes
supposes, it may have departed from the Odessa area. “This is a very serious incident but most likely it is not a threat against Croatia,” said the Croatian Ministry of Defense.
