Biden, arms deal step in the right direction
(ANSA) – NEW YORK, June 12 – A bipartisan group of senators has reached a preliminary agreement on weapons by finding an agreement on stricter controls on purchases, especially for those under 21, and additional funds for the safety of schools. The agreement also encourages US states to adopt ‘red flag’ laws, which are rules that allow police and families to ask a state court to temporarily remove the weapons of someone who might be dangerous for himself and for others.
The agreement reached “does not have everything I consider necessary, but it is an important step in the right direction”. This was stated by Joe Biden, underlining that if the agreement is approved it will be the most significant that has had the approval of Congress in decades. Biden assured that he will sign the order: “the sooner it arrives on my table, the sooner I can sign it”. (HANDLE).
