A 4.8 magnitude earthquake shook the states of NY and New Jersey this Friday, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
The agency reported an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 4.8, with its epicenter near Lebanon, New Jersey, about 75 kilometers west of New York.
The earthquake, which lasted several seconds, was noticeable throughout New York City, from Brooklyn to the Bronx or Manhattan.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul noted that the earthquake “shock western Manhattan and has been felt throughout New York.”

The New York City Fire Department reported that, so far, no “major incidents” have been reported, and that authorities continue to “monitor” the city.
