Last week it became known that a request to waive Milquet’s immunity may have been submitted in Parliament. Now the French Community Parliament is also following suit.

The case goes back ten years, when Milquet was federal minister of the interior and deputy prime minister. She is said to have recruited employees to her cabinet to carry out tasks linked to the election campaign. Milquet has always denied these accusations, but in 2015 she was accused and had to resign as Minister of Education in the French Community.

According to La DH, the Prosecutions Committee of the French Community Parliament will consider the case later this week, but according to Milquet’s lawyer, the proceedings are inadmissible and the file is also incomplete.
