Nico, the enlargement is approaching: a space will be raised

The verification of subjectability to environmental impact assessment passed. The surface will increase by 613sqm without altering the shape of the building

IF I SAY. We are now one step away from the expansion for Nico, the large sales structure that rises between Sedico and Bribano, near the roundabout from which the road leading to the bridge of San Felice starts and, therefore, to the Sinistra Piave. The sales area of ​​the clothing department store, once the intervention has been completed, will go from the current 3,345 square meters to 3,958, with an increase of 613 square meters.

The request to proceed with the creation of new spaces was presented by Nico spa and has already passed the verification procedure of being subject to environmental impact assessment. The provision of the Water, Environment, Culture sector of the Province of Belluno (which is valid for five years) has already been sent to the proposer, the Municipality, Arpav, Veneto Strade and the Urban Planning service of the Province.

«There is still missing», comments Sebastiano Casoni, councilor for commercial activities of the Municipality of Sedico, «an important step, which is that of the services conference with the Region which will also be called upon to evaluate the socio-economic consequences of the operation. For this reason, asking at this moment what the Municipality’s point of view is about this project is still premature ».

The objective of the project presented, in any case, is to increase the availability of sales spaces “from the moment”, the company underlined, motivating its request, “that the current endowment is insufficient for the growth of the business”.

The project, however, envisages increasing the sales area simply by using the grounds of the structure, with the raising of a space that is currently configured as a terrace overlooking the north-east part of the building. The new volumes, therefore, will be included within the outline of the existing building and will be accessible directly from the current first floor. The change will lead to having the entire building developed on two floors. The Province, which has already expressed its opinion on the proposal to expand the large shop (whose name is also known outside the Belluno area), considered the contents of the documentation presented to be “compatible with the environment”.

The documentation highlighted a slight increase in induced and transported traffic, but this is an increase that will not change the current traffic situation. The increase in sales area and volume, then, according to what has been assessed, will appear as a “small visual variation of the complex”. Finally, the study relating to the forecast assessment of the acoustic impact also highlighted compliance with the limits in force in terms of noise pollution.Nicola Pasuch
