North Kivu: resumption of fighting between the army and the M23 on the Karuba-Mushaki axis

Since this morning, Tuesday January 16, violent fighting has pitted M23 rebels against the Congolese army and local armed groups on the Karuba-Mushaki axis, in the Bahunde chiefdom in the territory of Masisi (North Kivu).

Civilian sources in Sake indicate that detonations of heavy and light weapons are heard in their entity as well.

The same sources add that it is since Monday evening, around 6 p.m. local time, that fighting has resumed with intensity in this area occupied for several weeks by the M23 rebels.
