There was no identity document, so it was the carabinieri who traced back to the legitimate owner

PANTELLERIA – A woman in Pantelleria found and returned a wallet containing two ATM cards and 1,875 euros, but no identity document. It was the carabinieri who traced back to the legitimate owner of the money: a tourist from Cremona who was spending a short holiday on the island and who had withdrawn that sum to pay the expenses for her stay.

The Lombard offered the islander a reward, but she replied that it was not necessary. “I only did my duty,” he replied.
