Peng Liyuan investigates grassroots tuberculosis prevention and control work in Changsha, Hunan – Health News Network – Health Portal

On March 25th, Health News Network reported on Peng Liyuan’s investigation of grassroots tuberculosis prevention and control work in Changsha, Hunan. As the World Health Organization’s Goodwill Ambassador for Tuberculosis/AIDS Prevention and Control, Peng Liyuan visited Dongjing Street, Yuhua District to assess the local efforts in combating tuberculosis.

Accompanied by Wang Hesheng, deputy director of the National Health Commission, and Zhang Yingchun, member of the Standing Committee of the Hunan Provincial Party Committee, Peng Liyuan explored the Yuhua District Health Education Center to understand the promotion of health knowledge and education. She emphasized the importance of community involvement in spreading awareness about tuberculosis prevention and treatment.

At the Dongjing Street Community Health Service Center, Peng Liyuan met with grassroots medical workers and interacted with tuberculosis recovered patients. She also engaged with children waiting for vaccination and their parents to learn more about the local management of tuberculosis diagnosis and treatment services.

With March 24th being World Tuberculosis Day, Peng Liyuan’s visit highlighted the theme of “You and I work together to end the tuberculosis epidemic.” By urging collaboration and education efforts at the grassroots level, Peng Liyuan encouraged everyone to continue their work in combating tuberculosis and ultimately putting an end to the epidemic.
