Pope Francis joins bishops’ prayers and calls for an end to the fighting

Pope Francis via his X account (ex-Twitter), 24 hours ago, said he was very concerned about the security and humanitarian situation in eastern Congo where violence and war are increasing. He joins the call of Congolese bishops to pray for peace and hopes for an end to the fighting.

« I am following with concern the increase in violence in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo. I join the call of the bishops to pray for peace, hoping for an end to the fighting and the search for sincere and constructive dialogue“wrote the sovereign pontiff.

The DRC is the victim of Rwandan (via the M23) and Ugandan aggression in its eastern part. Populations are suffering atrocities under the hypocrisy of Westerners who play double-talk by showing complacency in terms of sanctions in the country of Paul Kagame. There have been at least more than 6 million deaths on the Congolese side for more than two decades.

This, even though Rwanda is cited in several international reports as an aggressor country against the DRC. Several internal political headquarters, civil society, religious denominations against the backdrop of the Catholic Church led by Cardinal Fridolin Ambongo denounce this war imposed on the country of Lumumba because of a plethora of its mining and agricultural wealth. .
